"Little Suns united" - a painting project with children

In the Little Suns workshops, we celebrate the sun as our source of life with children - because without light there is no life.

Since it was founded more than 20 years ago, the Fondation Lascaux has been committed to a holistic, creative view of humanity. At the heart of its educational work is the world of colour. Colours connect us with the light of the sun, the source of life for all of us.

By working with colors in a free, unbound painting process, we activate the inner light of joy, beauty and peace from the heart. The earlier we address this level of experience, the more deeply and effectively it can anchor itself in our personality.

This is the intention of the project: an integrative painting project that spans cultures and borders and is aimed at all children in the world, regardless of colour, origin or life journey. They are all “little suns” and deserve our undivided respect, our unconditional love.

When the Little Suns paintings from the various workshops are combined to form a large sun, Little Suns united, a sun-like field of light is created that has an impact beyond its place of origin.  As a highlight, we celebrate this peace-building event with the children and the public. 

Presentations:

• 2023 at Lascaux, Brüttisellen and at the Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern during the international congress CREATE THE MAGIC! For a better tomorrow.
• 2024 at the Atelier Machteld Aardse in Amsterdam

Under the direction of Machteld Aardse, who is experienced in inspiring children with enthusiasm and joy, we will be making many more Little Suns shine.

Machteld Aardse: “In the Little Suns workshops, the children paint ‘their sun’. It comes from their memory, their imagination, how it looks and feels to them. If we learn to give much more space to children and to listen to what they see and how they see it, by letting them talk and share their vision, our perspective on the world can be opened.”
