The inspiring works from our project "Little Suns" have been created at various locations in Europe during th summer 2025. As “Little Suns united”, the drawings will be presented for the first time on 24th September 2025 at the Fondation Lascaux in Brüttisellen.

4 - 6 pm: Little Suns workshop and guided tours to the Lascaux factory  

6 pm: Official opening of the "Little Suns united" exhibition with an introduction by Barbara Diethelm, Machteld Aardse and Werner Schmidt

Barbara Diethelm studied Fine Arts as well as Humanities and Applied Science. Besides her career as a painter, since 1995 she has been leading the family business, Lascaux Colours & Restauro. She and her husband, Werner Schmidt, founded the charitable foundation, Fondation Lascaux, which promotes the importance of colours for a new consciousness – one that embraces a holistic view of culture, science and economics.

Machteld Aardse is a multimedia artist based in Amsterdam the Netherlands. Drawing and painting is the basis from which her work explores other media. Most of her work is executed in the public space. After getting a Master’s Degree in Art History at the University of Amsterdam, she completed a BFA in Fine Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and an MFA in Public Art at the Dutch Art Institute. She has been working with the products of Lascaux Colours, teaching and giving product trainings more than 20 years. Aardse is part of the Moving Academy for Performing Arts (MAPA) and Art Partner.

Werner Schmidt, Maler, Pädagoge und Mitgründer der Fondation Lascaux. Für ihn stellt die Ethik des künstlerischen Handelns einen zentralen Wert dar. Maler ist er geblieben, aber seine Werkstatt ist jetzt sein Wildgarten. Hier schaut er zu, schaut wie ein Hirte, der auf die Bewegungen seiner Herde schaut. Zentrales Anliegen seiner künstlerischen Praxis wie seiner Lehrtätigkeit: Demut und Staunen vor dem Wunder der Schöpfung.
