"Little Suns united" - a painting project with children for a peaceful future

The Little Suns workshops celebrate the sun as our source of life - for without light there is no life. 

This integrative painting project spans cultures and borders, and is aimed at all children regardless of race, religion or life’s journey. They are all “little suns” and deserve our undivided respect and unconditional love. 

 
The painting process activates children’s joyful inner light and offers an opportunity to celebrate, in colour and form, the connection between their inner sun and the Great Sun.

Little Suns reminds us that we all live under the same sun, have the same origin and are united by the same radiant heart. We are all "children of the sun". Those who feel this humility will see the beauty in everything and be rewarded with infinitely amplified creative power. 

 
The individual Little Suns paintings from the various workshops are combined to form the Little Suns united exhibition, from which a unified light-field radiates to pave the way for a peaceful future.

• 2023 at Lascaux, Brüttisellen and at the Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern during the international congress CREATE THE MAGIC! For a better tomorrow.
• 2024 at the Atelier Machteld Aardse in Amsterdam

Under the direction of Machteld Aardse, who is experienced in inspiring children with enthusiasm and joy, we will be making many more Little Suns shine.


Machteld Aardse: “In the Little Suns workshops, the children paint ‘their sun’. It comes from their memory, their imagination, how it looks and feels to them. If we learn to give much more space to children and to listen to what they see and how they see it, by letting them talk and share their vision, our perspective on the world can be opened.”
